Supervision and Trainees

Supporting the Next Generation of Therapists

Hello, I’m Kate Simpson, and I understand the unique journey you’re on as a trainee counsellor or psychotherapist. Your training is a time of immense growth and learning, and it’s essential to have a supportive and experienced guide. As a UKCP-registered psychotherapist and Certified Transactional Analyst, I offer both supervision and personal therapy services specifically designed to meet the needs of trainees. I also offer supervision generally to experienced counsellors and psychotherapists regardless of modality.

Supervision: Fostering Your Professional Development

My approach to supervision is centered on creating a trusting and open relationship. This is where you can bring your client work—the successes, the challenges, and the moments that leave you feeling stuck. We will work together to:

• Reflect on your cases: Gain new perspectives on client dynamics and therapeutic interventions.
• Navigate ethical considerations: Discuss the professional and ethical challenges that arise in your practice.
• Enhance your skills: Identify areas for professional growth and strengthen your therapeutic skills.
• Understand parallel processes: Explore the unconscious dynamics that may be at play between you, your client, and me.

I offer flexible supervision sessions, available both in-person at my practice and online via a secure and confidential platform, allowing you to choose the format that best suits your schedule.

Therapy for Trainees: A Foundation for Your Practice

Personal therapy is a cornerstone of effective training. I provide a dedicated space for you to explore your personal journey alongside your professional one. Our work will focus on:

Self-awareness: Deepening your understanding of your own patterns and how they might show up in the therapy room.
Personal and professional growth: Processing the emotional and psychological impact of your client work.
Building resilience: Strengthening your ability to hold complex emotions and prevent burnout.

I welcome you to engage in this important process either in-person at my office or through secure online sessions.
